Welcome to my website!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Kyle, a 30-year-old full-time software engineer and the maintainer of this website. This website is pretty bare right now because I'm getting back into web dev for the first time in many years. Web dev was actually the first type of development I ever learned (I wanted to make Minecraft mods and confused Javascript for Java LOL) and I did a lot of HTML/CSS/vanilla JS, so I'm not new to web dev, but that was at least 15 or so years ago at this point, so I'm pretty rusty. However, I have a few side projects that I'm interested in working on (including a Neocities site!), and the recent rise in Svelte and SvelteKit has me interested in web dev again (I really like the design philosophy of Svelte). That said, expect this website to come together a little more over time, looking forward to seeing you around!

A list of items I want to add to the site:

  • Diary/Blog
  • Gallery of art
  • Project list
  • microblogging/status
  • guestbook
  • quizzes and polls
  • what the hell, maybe a few shrines
  • and more! I have all sorts of ideas all the time so I'm sure I'll think of something else

Some other random facts about me:

  • I love music! Been involved in some way since I was 10 years old, and still constantly doing more
  • I've been getting really into Blender! I love environmental design and would love to make some poolrooms/backrooms/weirdcore/vaporwave/anything else I'm interested in
  • I've been a full time software engineer for about 4ish years now with various companies. I love software but deeply hate the industry
  • I'm an American socialist and have been reading more literature and theory recently. Expect content about communism and left-wing ideology here. Currently reading A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn
  • I'm a black belt and have done martial arts for 7 years, although I haven't practiced much recently
  • I've been getting into blacksmithing recently! It's a very fun physical art form and I love making things with my hands
  • My degree was in game development, although I don't do much game development anymore. I'd like to make some tools for game devs using my current skillset, expect updates on this
  • I've been picking up some electrical engineering stuff. I would love to make a distortion pedal for my electric guitar one day, and a ton of othter random mechanical project ideas that I have
  • I looooooove Overwatch. I've been playing since 2016, played on my old college's esports team, and I later hit a peak rank of Masters, although I'm a little washed now (employment moment). I still play all the time though
  • I program in Go in my day job. I love Go and have used it almost exclusively since I've been in the industry, and is likely what I'll be using for a lot of projects (where appropriate). I'm also interested in Rust, Kotlin, and Typescript as well. Expect more information about that later!

That's all for now! Thanks again for dropping by, I'll be updating this website more as I get better with newer web technologies. Have a good day!
